Should i split this job in two? shower cubicle installation/tiling
Hi there,
Posted this job yesterday for our upcoming bathroom renovation but slow to get responses, was wondering if I should split the job into two (shower enclosure installation and bathroom tiling)?
“安装淋浴房之前there was a cast iron bath (separate job posted regarding removal of cast iron bath).
Approximately 1600/1700 x 800 tray, between 10 and 15cm riser to accommodate current waste setup.
Shower tray and enclosure to be installed may be purchased by myself, to be discussed. Shower waste to be plumbed, again, may have this sourced and purchased myself.
Frame/riser for shower tray may be built and installed by myself (again, needs discussed).
Shower area and remainder of small bathroom to be fully tiled. Have purchased wall and floor tiles which may be suitable. All current partition walls will be recovered with suitable tiling backer boards in preparation for this job.
On-street parking available during day outside flat, looking to have this done in approximately a fortnight's time."
Thanks

Hi,
The bathroom installation should be done by a plumber or good builder. The tilling I would leave to a tiler unless the installer is a very decent tiler also. Make sure you have an idea of what is going in fixture wise, ie type of shower mixer etc. These can vary in price to install.
Hope this helps

Hi there
As a proffessional tiler myself, I would only set the tiles if we did the prep work ourself (building of party walls, boarding out etc) That way, there is no excuse for a poor finish. Also, be wary of builders who say they can tile. In my 20 plus years in tbe game my experience has been that they can't. Hope this helps.
Cheers

I would get a competent plumber who specialises in bathroom installs. They would either tile the bathroom themselves as well as all plumbing works. Or they will have a tiler that they use for such jobs. It will keep the cost down than having it as two jobs as the plumber may not add as much on to the job as a tiler would charge separately.
