Painting brick walls indoors.
I am trying to lighten my lounge dining room, I have small red brick walls at bottom of alcoves and a red brick arch looks old fashioned, I want to paint them in a white or cream wash, I realise I have to prime using pva , but what paint do I use, an emulsion? Also what about sealer on top of that what products are there that would work. Thankyou for your help.

Dont use pva.
If you look at the primer range offered by zinsser, i believe bullseye 123 is the most applicable to your job.
Once primed you can then paint with whatever you choose

I would recommend using a suitable primer and undercoat, then use a water based acrylic paint .This will give adhesion and should be ok after 2 coats with a roller

I would recommend not to use a PVA, primer or emulsion.
The best product would be a breathable limewash. These are available through The Lime Centre and come in various different colours.
