My local council are turning our garages into flats but our row of houses are on top of the garages and our gas pipes are inside the garages with the gas meters inside our homes the council have told us they will have to divert our gas pipes and we have to have our meters moved outside on a communal pathway but surely it's cheaper to do just the pipe work and reconnect it to existing meter but as they done this to one block already after a gas leak they think they can do it to us other block will not have new flats underneath and still have main pipe work in garages and their meter boxes are already damaged i.e broken or missing doors they have told me it to meet new building regulations for the flat forgetting that the works is to a existing building and not a complete new building can they force us all to have the meters outside as half of us have a prepay meters
