Hi All

I started to remove the wallpaper from my bedroom and now I have made a bit of a mess of the whole job.

How on earth do I rescue this situation? I just want my bedroom to be back to normal :)

Thanks

Hi there,
Firstly you should continue removing the wallpaper. If you were struggling to remove it, a steam wallpaper remover will speed things up! Once the wall is clear, let it dry out for a day. You can scrape any dried bits of paper off easily. Then you have two options. You can hire a plasterer to skim over the unveven surfaces, or you can hang some lining paper, like you would with wall paper, then paint. The best option is to plaster, then paint and your walls will look fantastic.

Removing wallpaper can be a very tedious job depending on the type of paper you are removing & also if your walls are plasterboard it’s even harder to remove without causing more damage.
There are chemicals you can apply prior to stripping that make it easier (zinseer) have a product called DIF that penetrates the wallpaper & dissolves the paste .
It sounds to me like you have damaged your walls with a scraper and they possibly need plastering .
