Chimney banging in the wind

我们押尾学e in a fairly new three storey house. Whenever there is any wind the chimney has a banging, knocking sound which gets louder the higher you go up the house. Nothing can be seen in the loft space and recently on a home are inspection the fire was condemned as the engineer said he couldn't inspect the chimney in the loft as it was built in the the brick??? Any advice on what, or who can fix this would be much appreciated

I cannot believe some of the answers being cited on this section.
1. The guy who condemned the fire (gas appliance?) was talking rubbish to condemn for not being able to inspect in the loft because it was built into the brickwork. Thats not the only way you test and inspect a flue system.
2. To say its a Copex liner rattling around is probally true BUT it cannot just simply be removed, it's there for a reason !!! Equally, it cannot be removed by a roofer, it has to be removed by a Gas Safe registered engineer if its serving a gas appliance.
Get another competent gas engineer in to look at the problem and be prepared to pay for his time and knowledge, gas fumes kill!

This noise has all the hallmarks of a Copex flue liner moving during windy days within the chimney. If this proves to be the source then you will have to employ a roofer to remove it which can only be done from the top of the chimney!
