I have no issue using cable cleats for the SWA to be fixed to the internal garage wall from the CU, drilling and exiting the garage. Then, for the remaining <15-meter run, I see the only viable option as using cable cleats to fasten the cable to the fence/fence base board as the whole section outside the rear of the garage and down to the hot tub location is concrete followed by patio for the last 5 meters. It’s a new fence and when I said about this approach I was advised to do as I’ve suggested or run the SWA cable along the top of a fence beam. I’ve been told to fasten the cable to the fence with a distance between cable cleats as roughly one every length of a screwdriver. I thought there were firm regulations on running SWA, so I was surprised that fastening to the fence or fence beam wasn’t seeming to be any issue. Also, to me, the only place the isolator can go is on the fence and my assumption would be this isn’t permitted? I was wondering if, in front of the fence, I fit some form of 10x10 fence post with a board at roughly knee height, which I can secure via a bolt down post support to the patio/concrete, (more than 2m away from the hot tub location) and this can be where the incoming supply cable comes off the fence, terminating at the isolator, with an outgoing supply tail then to the hot tub. Does all that sound acceptable? I basically don’t want to waste what will likely take me a day running cable and making an isolator location for it to be incorrect.
