That is unusual and a slow way to install wall units , we use hanging brackets /hanging rails as it's quicker to install the wall units and then use the adjustments on the wall unit hanger to move up and down or it and out for levelling, also it avoids the chance of hitting a power cables,ie you can still get a solid fixing in a bracket or hanging rail by finding first where the power cables are ,then going to the side safely to fix , this avoids the potential for a live cable being severed which could potentially liven up metal surfaces.
