Bricks dropped like flies when replacing the corner bay window

Hi Experts,

We just had our Corner bay window replaced. We had a minor setback when bricks dropped from top. We don't know what could be prevented from this mishap the next time.

The installers did support the ceiling. But bricks from the bay window does not have a lintel so when the bay window was removed, they just dropped down.

1) Should the installers insert a wooden beam when the old window was removed ? Is it possible to do this for a corner Bay window?

2) The remedy is to install some timbers and add some insulation to the void. We hope that the installers will do a bit of plastering to make it look like the rest of the house. Is this ok ?

Many thanks

As long as the timber used is load bearing then this remedy should be fine

This is not the fault of the fitters. The surveyor should have pick this up when he surveyed the bay timber is fine as long as it can carry the load of the brickwork and a steel bay pole.we would use 100x100 angle iron chased into the brickwork either end of bay and a jack pole as a bay pole.
