Paying plumber for work not completed as arranged

I had a leak fixed under my house, plumber gave me an estimate but then said it would be the top of the estimate as there was more work to do. He has now not done the extra work but still wants the top end of the quote. Should I pay him that or less?

This isn’t plumbing advice, this is legal advice. Payment should be made for agreed work. You wouldn’t pay for work he/she hasn’t carried out. I suggest you ask the trades person to give you a breakdown of the work done including parts and labour. This may clarify the cost.

If they haven’t done the work they were employed to do then you pay nothing, if they adjusted an estimate to complete the work but then didn’t complete it then you still retain your money, if they did what they were employed to do and there were further issues, then you should pay
