Cistern coughing/pumping noise after flushing.

Hi,

Don't know if you can help, every now and then after flushing my toilet makes a strange noise. Like its coughing, however if I lift the lid to the cistern up, it stops. It also stops if I flush again.

It sounds like the lid is resting on the inlet valve slightly allowing the valve to open and fill slightly. Next time before you lift the lid look into the pan and see if the water is moving. If so adjust the inlet valve slightly. If it continues you may need a new inlet valve or possibly a flush valve.

Replace inlet valve and flush valve Never worth doing one without the other to save further problems
