Skimming ceiling
When arranging the installation of my new bathroom, I requested that the ceiling be overboarded before skimming to hide cracked paint and bad filling blemishes. Instead the bathroom fitter used thistle bond and now some of the blemishes are showing through the plaster. The bathroom has been tiled from floor to ceiling so overboarding now without removing the top row of tiles and cutting shower panels would be unsatisfactory as the board would come down over the tiles and panels. Is there anything else I can do? I would be grateful for any suggestions. Thanks

Hi
是的如果你可以抛弃不是一个选项remove the existing ceiling and reboard but leave an inch and a half of the
existing ceiling around the edge ok then when its ready for skimming then you can scrim between the existing inch and a half and new boards and doing that way takes away the chance of cracking .
Ive done it plenty of times and just go round all around the ceiling around the edge and mark an inch and a half away from the wall edge and cut along the line and remove the existing ceiling and then reboard using same thickness of plasterboard scrim joints then replaster also put tape all along the top of your tiles with masking tape also use light polythene sheeting over your tiled walls and waterproof sheets on the floor ok.
That should sort out any issues you might of had.

Mark

I would put this in the hands of a good decorator. It can be sorted out with the minimum of disruption to your newly finished bathroom.
2 routes.
The rough areas can be filled over lightly with filler, but not any filler. Toupret have fillers specifically for this, abrade and paint.
Or before painting paper the ceiling with lining paper, if you're concerned that the cracks may re-appear then use a paper called wallrock, use good quality ready mixed adhesive.
If the lining is done well with the correct prep you should achieve a nice finish for painting.
Painting.....i always use zinsser permawhite on bathroom ceilings, again applied correctly to either of the routes above it will impart a great finish that is gauranteed 7 years mould and mildew proof, it withstands the effects of condensation.

hi,save yourself more cost mess and time.contact a decerator.tell him what is required.he will fill over the ceiling, sand smooth and repaint.you dont need a plasterer for this.if you do get a plasterer then you will have to pay for decorater, makes no sense. anthony
