I have a 1930s house. It has brick walls upstairs and not downstairs. As far as I know although I am not certain they sit on wooden beams and not metal. My issue is regarding a section of wall near my staircase and kitchen. I have one of those kitchen ceilings which have a small square section in a corner which is the top of a staircase. Running along and next to my staircase string there is a wall. But this wall does not start from the ground it starts building out from another wall which it is tied into and then runs along with my Stringer upwards. It stands out around twofold Wall. But this wall does not start from the ground it starts building out from another wall which it is tied into and then runs along with my stronger upwards. It stands out around two to 3 feet. This extrusion Wall has first floor walls that sit on top of it and the bricks that tie it in at the bottom where it first starts to come out of the wall it is tied into have become. Does anybody have any knowledge of whether these extruding tied in bricks that do not start from the ground are load-bearing? And what next steps should I take to make it safe as soon as possible?
