Powering a cooker hood

你好,今天我们已经购买了炊具罩形式B &Q, we asked if it was connected via 3 pin plug or had to be hard wired in, 2 members of staff confirmed 3 pin plug. When we got it home and unpacked we found a lead with a live and neutral cable,no plug. The instructions state, "mains supply could be connected to the mains voltage by direct connection" it doesn't should or must which leaves us to wonder whether we could add a plug to power the unit. If not then we will need to contact an electrician to connect to a fused spur outlet.

Tech spec shows power supply is 220-240v-50hz

Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

I assume that there is no earth wire because the cooker hood could be double insulated and therefore needs no earth connection. There may be a sticker or information pertaining to that fact.
A 3 amp fuse should be installed in the plug.

Good luck.

That's because it an either or job. Stick a 13a plug top on and a 3 or 5amp fuse in it, and plug it in if you have a convenient socket outlet nearby. Or wire through a switched spur unit with 3 or 5a fuse fitted in the spur.
